About bikaner

Bikaner was founded in 1488 A. D. by Rao Bikaji and is located 330 in North West of State capital, Jaipur. Bikaner city is the heart of Western Rajasthan. Bikaner is situated in the middle of the Thar desert with very little rainfall and extreme temperatures. In summer, temperatures exceed 50 °C and during the winter it dips to freezing point. The Gang Canal and the Indira Gandhi Canal have allowed the farming in the region. The industries include wool production and the mining of Gypsum, plaster of Paris and bentonite. Bikaner is famous for sweets and snacks (Bhujia). Bikaner, though a desert land of the Thar Desert, was considered an oasis on the trade route betweenCentral Asia and the Gujarat coast since it had adequate spring water sources. The National Research Centre Camels is located here. The world famous tourist places viz. Junagarh Fort, Karni-Mata Temple (Desnoke), Kapil Muni Ashram (Sri Kolayat) and Gajner are located in or around Bikaner. The monuments of unique art and sculpture can be traced in Rampuria Havelis and even in old stone houses of the city itself where time consuming carvings on red stone of Dulmera and other stones are fixed. Bikaner is known as land of culture and hospitality.

CONVENOR     Dr. Sudhir Bhardwaj is presently working as an Assistant Professor in Physics at Govt. College of Engineering and Technology, Bikaner. He did his research work at Rajasthan University with collaboration Variable Energy Cyclotron Center (VECC), Kolkata, INDIA and Brookhaven National Laboratory, Newyork, USA. He was the team member of Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, STAR PMD Experiment.

About Workshop

This workshop gives an exposure to its participants on different characterization techniques in material science both theoretical and experimental through the invited Talks by the experts in various fields. The participant would have hand on experience on working different instruments. This will encourage to participants to understand and work in this field of research as well as study their academics. Besides there will be ample opportunity for the participants to have informal discussions on topics of mutual interest with the invited speakers with the aim of developing future collaboration. The objective of this workshop is not only to provide a forum of presentation and discussion of new results but also to introduce the characterization techniques of materials to participants of science and engineering. This workshop will gather a group of national scientists and researchers interested in characterization techniques of material science, to discuss the invaluable importance of these techniques in understanding the materials, as well as the recent developments of these techniques. The workshop will bring together the existing and developing knowledge in this field.
